Worrying levels of ultrafine particles: what health risks!
Road traffic is the main source of ultrafine particle (UFP) pollution in Ile-de-France, according to the results of a first survey by the Airparif association, published on Tuesday. Airparif, the air quality observatory in Ile-de-France, has launched a program to measure ultrafine particles, smaller than 100 nanometers, less than the size of a virus.
The study focuses on four urban or peri-urban areas: the Parisian district of Les Halles, Gennevilliers, in Hauts-de-Seine, Tremblay-en-France in Seine-Saint-Denis and in rural areas, in Bois- Herpin, in Essonne. The first series of surveys was carried out in a winter “background” situation from December 2020 to February 2021.
